We heard the coyotes at night, and I think one night they were really close, but we did not see any bears. We did see turkey, deer and some other little critters. I was hoping to see a bear. I did bring the telephoto lens in case we happened to see one. Oh well. Maybe next time.
Here are some images from the weekend.
The campsite. Nothing fancy.

Grandmother (who stayed at local motel--wimp) told ghost stories at night before retreating to her hotel room.
For cooking and heat.
A campground staple.
Sarah and I went on a wonderful horseback ride through the woods. We saw turkey, deer and a few other critters
Cades Cove
The water was cold, but the kids didn't care
The kids found a huge, dirt hill to play on. They naturally got filthy and there were not any showers at the campground. They were filthy and happy.
Well, we had a good time, but it might be 6 months or year before I am ready to try it again.

This does look like a lot of fun - but I'd be with the grandmother who stayed at a nearby motel. Great photos.
2 days without a shower! I can tell you from experience you really start noticing it after 10 days. Glad to see Nick's got his curls back. Joanne
