This is why...

Dad's should not be in charge of giving bubble baths to their kids. Or, maybe they should allowed every now and then....

Sarah and I had fun with the bubbles.

I got a new strobe for my camera. It's an Alienbee 800. I have not had a lot of time to practice with it yet, but here are a few of the kids. They were not as excited about the AB800.

I've been taking lots of pictures lately, so I thought I simply post some of my favorites from the last few weeks. Warning, not all of these are of the kids. Yikes.

OK, starting with a kid pic though. Maybe not a favorite, but from tonights action.

A local high school game between Oak Ridge and Karns in the district tournament. Oak Ridge is one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the state. They played liked it, making my job of shooting fun.

OK, another kid pic, but this one has a bit of a story. Pictured below are Nick and his long-time friend Baylor. Baylor and Nick have been good friends for the last few years and recently, we found out that Baylor and Nick are third cousins. Seems Baylor's dad and Yvonne's Mom have a common relative a generation or two or so ago. Despite being good friends and relatives, they battled hard against each other and at one point Baylor stole the ball from Nick and Nick promptly wiped him out with a hard foul. Of course, they made up and Baylor came to our house for a few hours after game to play. No blood, no harm.

A good effort at saving this ball from going out of bounds.

Sarah does basketball

I finally got a chance to take some pictures of Sarah and her team playing basketball last night. The team is doing much better and we are actually scoring points now. We only have 4 players on the team and they play 3 on 3. Sarah scored a few points last night, but we lost track. She says she had 7 baskets, but I am not sure it was that many.

Some basketball

Nick and Sarah's church league basketball is underway. I am coaching Sarah's team again this year. Sarah is probably the best player on her team. Unfortunately, Sarah is probably the best on her team. Don't get me wrong, Sarah is a decent basketball player, but she is not blessed with height and clearly basketball is not her best sport at this time. (In fairness, I am also not blessed with an abundance of height or basketball skill either.) We have a very small and inexperienced team. Her 3 teammates have never played before and perhaps basketball is not their best sport either. We got beat about 30-2 Friday night. Fortunately for us, they did not keep score. I was not at Sarah's first game as I was sick, but from what I heard, things did not go as well in the first game as we were shutout. So, at least Sarah got our first basket of the year. Since I was so focused on coaching Friday night, I did not get any pictures of her playing. I'll try to get some next week.

Nick's game went much better. He is getting much better and scored quite a few points before the coach pulled him about 1/2 way through the game and told him he needed to take a seat. The coach told him he wanted to give the other team a chance to score a few baskets. He seemed fine with sitting and was even a good sport about it cheering on his teammates. Nick and I went with one of his friends to watch the TN Vols play Ole Miss in an SEC basketball game last week. His friend's family has great season tickets (5th row) and we had a ball. The game was great and TN won 85-83 after making a last second basket. Hopefully, we'll get invited back. Maybe it was that game that is inspiring his play.
