A quiet evening on the lake tonight

It was quiet on the lake tonight until we got there. Then things got a bit crazy.

The Kids Just Can't Get Along.

Actually, they get along really well. Or at a minimum, Cadbury has decided not to swallow her yet, although she can be a bit of a pain to him. Ignore the background TV noise. I was watching soccer, Euro2008. Deutschland Uber Alles. .

Shot Nick's Team Last Night

The coach wanted me to shoot Nick's team last night. We missed the "official" photo day, so we made up for it last night. The boys also got pizza and trophies. The trophies were for winnnig their league. The trophies are actually nicer than anything I ever got growing up. Both the kids and I get pretty bored with the same old lamo static pictures, so we had some fun.

Sarah's Last Game of the Season

Well, Sarah's team lost their last game of the season, but they still won the championship, so no harm done. She was a bit bummed about the loss as she played pretty well. Not to sound too biased, but the ump was terrible tonight and cost them a few runs and perhaps the game. I won't show his blown calls here, but suffice to say he missed them.

A quick note for you fellow photogs out there: For this game, I shot it with my Mark III, the 300 2.8 IS and my new 2x converter. Essentially, I was shooting at 600 5.6. The game was at 7:00 with heavy clouds and a setting sun, so at times had the ISO as high as 2500. Still, I was fairly impressed with how the 2x performed. The last image below is without it. All of these images are full frame, no cropping. The 600 does have some reach and on a 1.3 body, it's really more like 780mm.

After the game, the girls got their medals. Sarah was still mad about losing the game. Now, we wait for fall soccer and more t-ball. Word has it her coach wants to take her and his daughter and move to a more competitive team / league. We'll see. And we still have the year-end party to attend.

Saturday Nigh In Knoxville

We went to a friend's wedding Saturday night and had a good time. We made the kids put on some decent clothes for a change. Sarah did not mind posing in her new dress.

I'll post some more later. OK, OK, it's later. Here are some more.

For the most part, I turned the camera over to Sarah for the night. I took a few. We were using the XTi, which she can handle even with the 24-70 2.8 on it. If I had the 1dmkIII, I would not have let her walk around all night with it. She had a ball and our secret arrangement is that we would tell everyone that it was her camera.

Here are a few of mine:

The food was pretty good, but the chocolate fountain was the best. Nick could not believe his good luck at finding the fountain for youth, not the same as the fountain of youth.

Of course, all that sugar had some side effects.

Sarah and her friend enjoy some more sugar in the form of cake.
