More Sarah Softball

Sarah's team won again last night. At least this one was a close one and they had to work to score enough runs in the bottom of the 3rd to win it. Sarah played pretty well. I think her best play of the night was when she threw a runner out at 1st. With bases loaded and two outs, the ball was hit sharply to her. Normally, with a runner on third, she fields the ball and then runs to home and either tags the runner out or touches home for the force out. But, this time she juggled the ball and realized that she could not chase down the runner from third, so she calmly threw to first and got the final out.

She never panicked and knew the situation and with the ball hit sharply, she still had time to throw to first. Now, if you have ever watched a girl's t-ball game, you will know that just by knowing what to do, she was way ahead of most of the girls on the field.

Another nice play was in the bottom of the third and bases loaded, she smoked a hard shot off of the pitcher's knee and the ball ricocheted far enough to away empty the bases. Luckily, the girls play with a rubberized softball and she did not hurt the girl.

Some Baseball From Tonight

Took a few pix at Nick's game tonight. Unfortunately, most of the action was in the pre-game warm-ups and shortly after the game started the sun set behind some big clouds. That was pretty much it for the nice light and good photos. Oh, they won again and remain undefeated in league play. They play again tomorrow night at 6pm and then on to Sarah's game at 8pm. Busy night.

More Nick Field Day Stuff

Since I shorted Nick a few images on his field day post, I thought I would add a few more of him and his friends. Oh, school is out Thursday. Let the good times roll. I should add that his class won the 3rd grade tug-of-war, going 5-0 and against the other classes. Nick was really happy to be on the winning tug-of-war team for the first time this year. It is really pretty funny to see all the kids and parents really getting into the competition. It was like the Superbowl of field day events.

There's a new kid in town.

Last Monday, Yvonne found a lost puppy. All efforts to locate her owner met with negative results. Alas, we have a puppy. Sarah has been bugging us for a puppy for the last 3 years. Well, maybe not quite that long, but for a long time. We were holding off on getting her one, so maybe it was a gift from God. Sarah is thrilled

She is about the size of a small cocunut, so Sarah decided that would be her name.

Meet Coconut. Coco for short.
Cadbury is slowly accepting Coconut. They even started playing some last night.

And of course, Sarah and Coconut are buddies.

Quick update: Puppy was seen by Vet day after we got her. She is healthy. Will go back in a few weeks for rest of shots.

Nick's Field Day

Nick had his field day today. It was very cool and breezy, but at least the rain was gone and the sun peeked through occasionally. All in all, it was a great day. Here is a quick image and I hope to add a few more soon, but it late tonight and I am tired.

Sarah's Field Day

Sarah had her year-end 1st grade field-day last Friday. One of the other parents commented how competitive Sarah was. It's true. She is quite the competitor on the softball field, the rollerskating rink and on the track. It was almost embarrassing the other week at a friend's roller skating birthday party when she crossed the finish line first in the 7 year-old race. Most kids had not yet rounded the corner on the first turn.

Don't worry, she is still knows how to have fun.
